Teen Car Insurance »
Teen Car Insurance.
Car insurance for teenagers can be very expensive, especially one with a bad driving
record. Any minor ticket or accident can cause premiums to explode. There are some ways,
however, for teenagers to save money on auto insurance:
1. Drivers Education.
Most schools offer a drivers education course. It's much less expensive to take a
drivers education class in school, as opposed to signing up for classes at a private company
outside of the school. Most schools charge less than $50 for these classes, while private companies
have been known to charge anywhere up to $400.
2. Good Grades.
Major auto insurance companies usually have policies where teenagers who make a certain
grade point average (B, or C average, for most companies) have a lower premium. In fact, achieving at least a B can save you up to 25% with some companies.
3. Older and Cheaper Automobile.
Cars that are old and cheap usually aren't very fast -- insurance companies realize this.
Unlike most people think, SUVs are NOT cars that have cheap insurance. SUVs have a high
rate of rolling over.
