Medical Payments Insurance.
Medical payments coverage, also called Personal Injury Protection (PIP) protects against the cost of injuries to you or anyone in your vehicle.
Medical payments coverage is often said to be useless, especially given the price. However, many states require the coverage and, as a result, most people feel it is a worthwhile addition to their insurance portfolio.
Medical insurance coverage effectively covers everything from when you or your passengers get injured until they are released from care. This extends beyond the hospital into physical or chiropractic care and can be very good for peace of mind.
For most people, though, these expenses are already covered by the health coverage they pay. As a result, depending on your state, it may be best to go with the bare minimum PIP coverage – to ensure that you are properly protected in any accident – and to invest the rest in more extensive healthcare insurance.
Either way, though, PIP can be worthwhile from a peace of mind point of view as some healthcare providers in certain states do not cover automobile incidents.
Check with your auto and health insurance representative to ensure you are making the best use of your insurance budget.
